Description
Inspired by a visit to The Morikami Japanese Gardens and Museum, my sketches of flora and fauna created this piece. Exotic flowers of Japanese origin were captured to reinterpret on canvas. Expressive flowers flowing from the cracked pot and prickly cactus demonstrate that from chaos, comes beauty; the imperfect is equally as beautiful and worthy.
Definition of Wabi Sabi – “The Japanese philosophy calls for seeing beauty in the flawed or imperfect.” We do not need to be perfect, we do not judge. To have the ability to slow down, to shift from doing to being, to appreciating rather than perfect is a Wabi Sabi way of life.
